Daily Campus Visits

Visiting campus is a great way to learn about everything NIU has to offer.  Most of the year, we offer morning and afternoon visits, Monday - Friday.  During the months of September through May, we also offer a Saturday morning visit.

Transfer students are welcome to attend the weekday or Saturday campus visit and tour, but are encouraged to attend the special transfer presentation and tour scheduled twice per day on most Fridays. Please plan your visit well in advance to ensure we have available space on your desired date.

Weekday Visit Information

Visitors are welcomed at the Barsema Alumni & Visitors Center (BAVC), located at 231 N. Annie Glidden Road. The Admissions reception desk at the BAVC is open on weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Visitors can choose from the morning session (10:00 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.) or the afternoon session (1:00 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.)  Each session includes an admissions presentation and campus walking tour.

Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early in order to obtain a free visitor’s parking permit from the Admissions reception desk at the BAVC that will permit you to park in the lot on the west side of the BAVC, off Stadium Ave.  Note: transfer students who have scheduled only an individual appointment with a transfer counselor may wish to park closer to the Williston Hall Admissions Office in the visitor’s parking lot at 200 Carroll Avenue, where the rate is $5 on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. See location & parking map below.

The Office of Admissions at Williston Hall is open from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM Monday - Friday.

Saturday Visit Information

Visitors are welcomed at Cole Hall for the Saturday presentation and tour.  Parking is available in the Visitor Parking Lot located at 200 Carroll Avenue, DeKalb, IL 60115.  Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early in order to park and walk to Cole Hall.  Parking is free of charge on the weekend.  The presentation will begin at 10:00 followed by a one hour walking tour of campus.  The visit will conclude at 12:45 p.m.
