Foreign Language & Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships

Deadline: January 1, 2015

The Summer FLAS fellowships provide for the study of Southeast Asian languages at any educational institution, including those in Southeast Asia, during the summer semester. Top priority will be given to students planning to study a language in a Southeast Asian country.

Any qualified undergraduate or graduate student from any accredited U.S. higher education institution is encouraged to apply for the Summer FLAS award.

NEW FOR 2015: If you are also applying for a 2015-16 academic year FLAS award, you will only need to submit this form. Indicate on the form that you would like to be considered for both summer and academic-year FLAS awards. You will not have to submit another form or collect additional letters of recommendation for consideration in the academic-year round. For more information, contact Assistant Director Trude Jacobsen at tjacobsen1@niu.edu.
