International Visitor Program-Philippines Alumni Foundation, Inc. (IVP)

will conduct

A FOUR-WEEK INSTITUTE ON
INTER-ETHNIC DIALOGUE AND CONFLICT RESOLUTION
(April 2008)

  For this year, the program participants will be limited to 24 Third Year High School and First Year College students (Muslims, Christians and Lumads), aged 15-17 and 4 adult leaders from the ARMM and surrounding provinces. The participants will attend an intensive four-week training institute on leadership, community activism, tolerance, volunteerism in civil society, religious diversity, inter-ethnic dialogue and conflict resolution. They will have the opportunity to take field trips to Chicago, Springfield, and Indiana. They will be housed at the Holmes Student Center Hotel for two weeks and will live with American families for two weeks.

Criteria for the Selection of Youth Participants: Criteria for the Selection of Adult Participants:
1. Demonstrated leadership skills
2. Demonstrated interest in community service
3. Strong academic and social skills
4. Strong commitment to peace and unity
5. Good English language skills
6. Character references and letter of institutional endorsement and support.
7. No previous significant travel to the U.S. on a U.S. government-sponsored program.
1. Preferably teachers, NGO and community leaders who
work with the youth & who are not more than 40 yrs old.
2. Actively involved in peace-related activities or community
outreach projects.
3. Demonstrated commitment or evidence that they will return to the Philippines, will remain in current job after the program and attend Follow-on Activities.
4. Character references and letter of institutional endorsement and support.
5. Good English language skills.
6. No previous significant travel to the U.S. on a U.S. government-sponsored program.
